Our organization wouldn’t be anywhere without the amazing instructors that inspire our students every day. Their diverse training backgrounds pave the way to create the perfect learning environment for our students on and off the stage!
Master Ballroom Instructor
Trained and certified at Macia’s Dance Studio, José Ramirez has been teaching ballroom dance in the Oklahoma City area since 1992. He is proficient in both ballroom and Latin styles of dance and has served as the Master Ballroom Instructor for Life Change Ballroom since its inception in 2006. As the Master Ballroom instructor, he not only teaches ballroom to students but trains and certifies their other instructors for our curriculum as well.
Associate Director & Lead Y.E.L.P. Instructor
Tami joined Life Change Ballroom as the Associate Director in 2007. Prior to joining Life Change, Tami was a Regional Vice President for AT&T Wireless and worked in the wireless industry for over 20 years. Since leaving AT&T, Tami has devoted her time to serving the inner-city youth in Oklahoma City. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for BritVil Community Food Pantry and has previously served as Chairman of the board of Junior Achievement, the Finance Committee for the Oklahoma City YWCA, The Oklahoma Academy and American Cellular Management Corporation. She is a member of Britton Christian Church and serves in their Study Buddies and Financial Peace University ministries.
Sunshine has been dancing since she was six years old, and is trained in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and ballroom. She has served in multiple capacities of various school PTA’s as a school and church volunteer and mentoring children in her community. Having three wonderful children of her own, Sunshine also has a love for teaching and mentoring children and plans to continue her work with them for as long as she is considered to be a positive influence impacting their lives.
Certified by Master Ballroom Instructor, José Bracamontés, Katalina served as a member of the Life Change Ballroom Dance Troupe, which trains every Saturday, since she was 10 years-old. That advanced ballroom troupe performs 15-18 times per year all over the city. Kat is an instructor for our in-school program and her goal is to attend UCO for Dance Performance. Katalina is proficient in both ballroom and Latin styles of dance as they pertain to the curriculum of Life Change Ballroom.
Christian has been involved in Life Change Ballroom since he was 12 years old. As a sixth grade student at KIPP OKC College Prep, he joined our Saturday advanced class and became a member of the Life Change Ballroom Dance Troupe, which trains every Saturday, year-round. Christian now serves as an Instructor and Lead Instructor for our In-School program.
Assistant Y.E.L.P Instructor
Asiah Starks has served as a member of the Life Change Ballroom Dance Troupe, which trains every Saturday, since he was 11 years-old. That advanced ballroom troupe performs 15-18 times per year all over the city. Asiah is now the assistant instructor of our Y.E.L.P. program. Asiah is proficient in both ballroom and Latin styles of dance as they pertain to the curriculum of Life Change Ballroom. In addition, he is classically trained in jazz and contemporary, and is currently training as a hip hop dancer/instructor
Lead Dance Instructor
As a former dance teacher at Northwest Classen High School for 34 years, D’Ann is trained in jazz, modern, ballet, tap, and most recently has developed a passion for ballroom dance. She served as the Fine Arts Team Leader for Dance for Oklahoma City Public Schools and is a mentor to all of the other dance teachers in the district. Her performing dance team, “The Company”, participated in a variety of performances and has competed at the state and national level winning numerous awards. We are proud to have had Ms. Waterman as an instructor with Life Change Ballroom since 2010.
